I love clients who have their own ideal location in mind but I am always willing to make suggestions! I want you to feel as natural and as comfortable as can be. If you need outfit or location suggestions, I am happy to help. If you already have a vision in mind of poses and over all look for your session, please feel free to share these details or send some inspiration photos. However, if children are a part of your session, my advice is to have an open mind! It's never unexpected for kiddos to not want to participate or have a mind of their own during the photoshoot. No matter their mood, just remember to have fun with them! This is REAL life!
prepping for your shoot
You can expect to receive unedited photo gallery via email to review of all the photos from your session. From there, you will choose your favorite photos to be edited. The number of photo edits depends on the package you have purchased. Once your favorite photos are chosen, you can expect to receive them fully edited and retouched within 4 weeks. Photo galleries are shared through Pixieset.com.

WHAT IS LIFESTYLE PHOTOGRAPHY?
As opposed to the traditional posed portrait photography- think oil painting and Olan Mills- lifestyle photography focuses on capturing more authentic and genuine moments between family and loved ones – the happiness of family life, the joy and the love, and even sometimes the tears (husbands and toddlers alike). In attempt to make your shoot feel more natural and you more relaxed, I love to get to know you better to try and limit the fake smiles and awkward, unnatural feeling poses. While some shots are planned and staged, my goal is for you to be as candid and comfortable as possible!
WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR?
My recommendation here is to try and think complementary colors for families. Pinterest is a great resource to research "what to wear for family photos." I recommend staying away from busy patterns and clothing that have too much contrast between family members. Unless you are a bride and groom, I suggest avoiding wearing black and white. Solids and layers photograph well. Remember though, wear what makes you feel confident! Confidence will show through in your photographs!
WHY DON’T YOU RELEASE ALL OF THE PHOTOS YOU TAKE?
I actually do allow you to view all the photos from your session via online viewing gallery from Pixieset.com. Once you have viewed your photographs, you may chose your favorite 15-30 (depending on the package you purchase) photographs for me to retouch.
DO YOU EDIT YOUR PHOTOS?
On occasion, the photos will be sent completely unedited for you to choose which photographs you would like retouched. Most of the time, I do make some adjustments prior to sending off for review. After your favorite photos from the session are chosen, I will finish with editing and retouching. You will then receive another link to the final photos.
IS STUDIO PHOTOGRAPHY AVAILABLE?
YES! I am pleased to say I have an in-home studio that I offer children sessions, newborn, maternity, and headshots.
WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY PHOTOS?
I try my best to send you the photos for review within 2 weeks. Final edits for all portrait sessions should be complete within 4 weeks. Wedding photos can be expected within 8 weeks, with the exception weddings in the of October-December due to holidays.
WHAT IF I NEED TO RESCHEDULE MY APPOINTMENT?
All sessions, including weddings, require a retainer fee/deposit to book and reserve your date. This is non-refundable. You may reschedule your appointment at any time up until the day prior to your session.
WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL MY APPOINTMENT?
You may cancel your appointment at anytime up until the day of your session. With the exception of weddings. However, cancellation of your session without rescheduling will result in loss of your retainer.
HOW MANY IMAGES WILL I RECEIVE?
Depending on the session booked, you may receive up to 30 photos for one hour session, 15 for mini sessions, and 450 for 8 hours of wedding coverage. You may purchase more photos for an additional fee.
WHY DO YOU RECOMMEND THAT I PRINT THROUGH YOU?
I do NOT recommend printing anywhere you can buy medication or groceries. My preferred printing labs are Nations Photo Lab, Pixieset, Mpix.com
WHAT TIME OF DAY SHOULD WE SCHEDULE THE SHOOT?
Sunrise and Sunset make for the best photographs if shooting outdoors. Shooting midday with little shade coverage can result in harsh photographs and squinty eyes! Indoor/studio photography can be done 9-5 pm.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE LOCATIONS TO SHOOT?
I'm always up for trying new locations! If you have a personal favorite location or private land, I would love to consider these areas. In Athens, a few places I frequent are: The Founders Garden on UGA campus, Ben Burton Par;, The State Botanical Garden of Georgia, Downtown Athens, UGA campus, open fields (Which I personally own), Harris Shoals Park
WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO THE PHOTOSHOOT?
When shooting family with children, I recommend bringing a toy that can make them smile or get their attention. Sometimes an Ipad with their favorite show or even videos of themselves can help! No one is above bribing their kids when it comes to photos! Ha! Bring a favorite snack or treat to give them after or during. Just NO brightly colored candies- unless you want blue tongues in your Christmas cards this year. For grumpy dads- if you find a way to cheer them up, please share your tips- I need this one for my own husband!. - love ya babe
